On Wed. Nov. 8 at 1 p.m., join us in the Council on Aging for The Music of World War II with Music Historian John Clark. This is a new program that builds on John’s past explorations of this era, looking at tunes that were well known to those who lived through the war. Immediately following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, songs of strength and confidence appeared on the American Hit Parade, followed by songs that celebrated branches of the service and paid tribute to heroes, and songs that welcomed our soldiers home, like Sentimental Journey and It’s Been a Long, Long Time. Featured artists include the Andrews Sisters, Glenn Miller, Vera Lynn, June Christy, Dinah Shore and Doris Day. Registration required, contact the COA at 508-358-2990 or coa@wayland.ma.us.
