First Parish in Wayland: “What’s Church for Anyway?”

On Oct. 1 at 10 a.m., please join us for a service led by Rev. Deborah Bennett.

It’s Sunday morning. What are you going to choose to do? And perhaps more importantly, why? Over time, the role of the religious community in life has gone through some changes. Once a central gathering spot in every town, a source of information (and gossip) and the place to go to ensure one’s soul was “right” with “God,” times have changed. The liberal church/congregation of the 21st century now has some stiff competition. Need inspiration – YouTube a Ted talk. Need information about history or religion? Wiki has you covered. Want to talk with God – the woods await. Want to gossip? While I highly discourage this, we all know texting is a 24/7 resource. So…what’s church for anyway? Come on in, and let’s talk about it! You may be surprised at the answer.
