Local and Global Discussion Group of Weston COA: A newspaper for Weston?

The demise of our local newspaper, The Weston Town Crier, has left many town residents feeling unmoored and uninformed. Many of those residents, along with members the Weston Media Center’s staff and board members, have been thinking about how we could better help the community stay connected.

The Local and Global Discussion Group of the Weston Council on Aging will be hosting a forum on this hot topic on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 1:15 to 2:45 pm in the Gathering Room of the CoA. Weston resident and WMC board member Joel Angiolillo will lead the discussion. The meeting will be held in person, as well as over Zoom.

In addition to representatives from the WMC, we expect to be joined by students and staff from the Regis College Journalism Department, who are helping to create a strategic plan for a new source of local news.

The event is open to all who are interested in learning about and discussing the issues in civil discourse.. For further information on this meeting, to obtain a link, or to learn about the Local and Global Discussion Group in general, call the CoA at 781-786-6280 or contact them at westoncoa@westnma.gov.
