Documentary Film About Russell’s Garden Center is Showing on the Big Screen July 27th.

The award winning movie, “Growing Through Covid-19”, directed and produced by local Wayland residents Genevieve Skehan (director) and Elizabeth Russell-Skehan (producer), is headed back to the big screen! It’s the story of the fight of a small business and the healing power of gardening during the 2020 pandemic. In the spring of 2020, Russell’s Garden Center feared their 144 year old, 5th generation business would go out of business forever. The uplifting film gives an intimate look of what really happened and how their local community of customers and employees rallied around them to find happiness by gardening during the pandemic.

Out of thousands of submissions, the full length feature film has been accepted into the Maine Outdoor Film Festival. It is playing at Maine Studio Works, 170 Anderson St. in Portland, Maine, on Thursday, JULY 27th at 12pm. The film is currently not available virtually, or anywhere else right now.
