Now Open! New Pop-Up Bookshop at Bagel Table to Benefit Wayland School Groups

The WHS Robotics Team has teamed up with Bagel Table to create a pop-up book shop “Fresh Baked Books of the Day” at Bagel Table at Town Center.  The pop-up, which opened this past week, features all top eight current New York Times Bestsellers for the week, both hard and softcover, fiction and non-fiction, as well as a selection of new childrens’ books, cookbooks, favorites and gift recommendations just in time for the holidays.

Book quantities are limited, so pick up that bestseller you’ve been meaning to read, or a great gift book or two, all for a good cause. “Stop by early to get the best picks of the day, and stop by often to see what’s new. And while you’re there, you can learn a bit about the profiled Wayland school group, fun facts are posted,” notes Rebecca Stanizzi, whose son is on the Robotics Team and she chairs the Wayland Economic Development Committee, so this book shop is a creative overlap between the two.

The pop-up shop has been set up to be curated by, and with a share of the profits going to, a local Wayland school group. Bagel Table rings up the sales during the day, and generously donates the space, while the school group handles inventory up front and through the week, and proceeds are shared. The inaugural partner is the WHS Robotics Team 5735 for the first few months as the shop gets underway.

Overall, the pop-up aims to add a little fun and retail to Town Center, as well as to spotlight and raise money for great Wayland student causes over time.

The WHS Robotics Team 5735, aka the Control Freaks, is looking ahead to starting its annual robot design challenge at the beginning of the new year. Last spring, the team was successful enough to be invited to the World Championships in Houston, and they aspire to return in 2023.

The Team hopes you enjoy the new pop-up as a new community hot spot, and thanks you for your support.
