ADULT SERVICES

  • Author Talk: Janis Daly and The Unmarked Path. In 1897 Philadelphia, after witnessing her aunt’s suicide, Eliza Edwards vows to find ways to help and heal. Rejecting her mother’s wishes for her society debut, Eliza enters medical college at a time when only five percent of doctors are female.  Rich in historical detail, Janis Robinson Daly’s new novel was inspired by her discovery that her great-great-grandfather was a founder of the Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania.  Register to attend in person or virtually.  Tuesday, December 13 at 7 p.m.
  • Sudbury Valley Nature Photographers. Don’t miss this month’s exhibit in our meeting room of stunning images from this venerable group, covering not only New England but locales around the world.
  • Office to Go. Working remotely?  Really remotely?  Our Library of Things has the components you need to make that work easy.  Just combine one of our Chromebooks with a hotspot and our portable scanner.  Our portable charger might come in handy, too.  Perfect for when you’re getting away from it all–or from most of it.
  • New Tutors Trained in Wayland Library’s ESOL Program. Immigrants in our area who want to improve their English now have greater opportunities. Three generous and enthusiastic Wayland residents are now certified to be tutors of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages): Chris German, Ana Signorovitch, and Lisa Vrigian.  They’ll work one-to-one with learners from various countries, remotely or in person.  Tutors do not need to know another language, nor do they need to know every detail of English grammar.  For more information, contact Ginny Steel at 781-541-4919 or at virginia@thesteels.com
