April 30: Celebrate Earth Day! On April 30, we celebrate Earth Day! The program grows daily, but this what is planned so far:
The Annual Town-wide Clean Up! (All day, all over town) Goodness, is it me or are our roadsides even more trashed than usual? Let’s do something about it! You can clean up anywhere and bring the trash to the Transfer station which wil exceptionally open for residents without stickers. You can also pick up bags and gloves at the Transfer Station… More info here.
Pick up your discount rain barrels and compost bins (10AM-1PM, at Transfer Station – must preorder!)

Electric landscaping equipment demo (1-2 PM, Wayland Home and Design). Watch a fully electric chainsaw, weed whacker, lawn mower, and leaf blower at work! We will have a snow blower there, but hopefully we will not be able to demo it 😉 At the Ace Hardware – Wayland Home and Design at Town Center, 70 Andrew Ave. Just walk on in.
Meet the (Native) Plants and Learn all about Ecological Landcaping (10AM-1PM, Transfer Station). Leisha Johnson, expert Master Gardener, will display samples of beautiful native plants known to thrive in Wayland and answer your questions. Wayland Garden Club members will present and answer questions about Ecological Gardening with native plants.
Learn about how Wayland is taking Action on Climate! (10AM-1PM, Transfer Station). Members of the Energy and Climate Committee will answer all your questions about the Climate Action Mobilization Plan. Also meet Energize Wayland and other fabulous groups coordinating our Town’s climate action!
