If you were surprised to find a one-page warrant for a Special Town Meeting (STM) in your mail box, you might find it helpful to attend the League of Women Voters STM Issues Forum on Thursday, September 30 at 7pm via Zoom.  Special Town Meeting will take place on Sunday, October 3 beginning at 12:30 in the High School Stadium.  It was called as a result of a petition calling for a moratorium on artificial turf fields for three years.  In addition to the moratorium article, there are three articles requesting funds for design of a grass field on the Loker Conservation and Recreation Area and feasibility studies for two additional grass fields.  Speakers will make presentations on each of the four articles followed by a question and answer session.

You may remember that the request for a turf field at the Loker Conservation and Recreation Area was defeated at Annual Town Meeting in May.  To address the need for additional fields, Town Meeting attendees will be asked to appropriate money to begin the process of developing additional grass fields.  The Forum will be moderated by Iryna Priester.  The Zoom link will be available next week.
