It is present-day, and in the kingdom of Auradon, all of Disney’s beloved heroes and royalty are living happily ever after, safe from the terrifying villains and troublesome sidekicks they have banished to the magic-free Isle of the Lost. That is until Ben, the benevolent teenage son of Belle and King Adam (The Beast), offers a chance of redemption for the troublemaking offspring of the evilest villains. Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos – the children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Cruella De Vil, and Jafar – are welcomed to Auradon Prep to attend school with the children of their parents’ sworn enemies. Now entering a completely foreign world and way of life, the four Villain Kids have a difficult choice to make: should they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps or learn to be good?

Emma and Lucy are lost in Tulgey Wood, a mysterious forest full of weird and wonderful creatures. Trying to find their way home, they encounter boisterous Toves and anxious Raths, receive a warning from the refined and snobbish Borogroves about the deadly Jubjub Bird, and are stalked by the frumious Bandersnatch. Joined by intrepid but hapless knight Percy, they come face to face with the awesome Jabberwock – and then Lucy is bandersnatched! Eventually the Jabberwocks’ terrible secret is revealed, and the children find out what “frumious” really means. Suggested by the poem “Jabberwocky,” the play is set in the fantasy world of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’ stories.

Sit alongside a troupe of storytellers as they gather under the stars. The crickets faintly sing as a drum beat echoes in the night, and you are transported to the jungle, where the lives and ideals of man and beast collide, and the law of the jungle must be obeyed. Here, we meet Mowgli, a young boy lost by his parents when fleeing the tiger, Shere Khan. Watch as he is raised by wolves, and educated by the bear Baloo and the panther Bagheera. Mowgli is happy while growing up and learning the ways of the jungle –and his name is soon known amongst all the animals. But Mowgli’s growing fame provokes resentment and envy, and his life is soon threatened from all sides.

This powerful and immersive version of a much-loved classic is as resonant now as it was when it first appeared. Featuring mesmerizing puppetry and stunning live music, this new adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s enchanted tale asks: Who is your true family? Those who look the same as you or those who love and nurture you? Here, the tales become a powerful examination of an emerging democracy, and the forces that threaten it.
Based on a version by the celebrated director Tim Supple, this adaptation was written by critically acclaimed South African playwright Craig Higginson, and was first staged at Johannesburg’s Market Theatre in 2008.

Merrily We Roll Along (Mainstage)
Friday, July 16 at 8:00pm
Wednesday, July 21 at 8:00pm
Saturday, July 24 at 8:00pm
Thursday, July 29 at 8:00pm
Merrily We Roll Along begins in the present and moves backwards, tracing the lives of wealthy, jaded composer, Franklin Shepard, and his two estranged friends through each milestone of their personal and professional lives (good and bad). The show ends with a touch of rueful irony, as the three best friends at the start of their careers face a bright future: young, talented and enthusiastic about the worlds waiting to be conquered.
With a brilliant “Broadway-style” score and that deep insight one expects from any Sondheim endeavor, Merrily We Roll Along is a spirited and moving cautionary tale for anyone who has ever pursued a dream.

Friday, July 23 at 8:00pm
Sunday, July 25 at 7:00pm

Chaos erupts. Lives hang in the balance. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes center stage. The power of optimism really can save the world!

Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him—most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales. Overflowing with heart and humor, Big Fish is an extraordinary musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre—for an experience that’s richer, funnier and bigger than life itself.

From a simple, rippling pool of water, Zimmerman conjures the force of Ovid’s myths into gorgeous imagery, provocative moments and breathtaking storytelling. Metamorphoses juxtaposes the ancient and the contemporary in both language and image to reflect the variety and persistence of narrative in the face of inevitable change. Tales of passion, betrayal, hope, and transformation invite us into a realm of shared cultural myths and beautiful, unshakable visions.
