• Schitt’s Creek Trivia Night. Calling all disgruntled Pelicans!  Pour yourself a glass of Herb Ertlinger banana rosé as we meet over Zoom for several rounds of trivia about this beloved Canadian comedy show.  Play on a team with your housemates, gather your Jazzigals virtually, or play on your own if you’re “trying very hard not to connect with people right now.”  Teams should be capped at 6 players.  Prizes will be awarded to the top-scoring team, so cease your pettifogging and register through our Events menu now!  Friday, May 14 at 7 p.m.
• Closed for Remodeling 4/26-5/7. We’re getting a new phone system and, even better, enhanced wi-fi (no more shaky Zoom calls!).  That means people with drills and ladders all over the place, so we’re going to be closed to the public while they’re here.  With any luck, they’ll finish ahead of schedule, but in the meantime, we’ll still be offering curbside pickup and telephone reference.
• Noon Book Group. The title up for discussion is I Give It to You, timeless story of family, war, art, and betrayal set around an ancient, ancestral home in the Tuscan countryside from bestselling novelist Valerie Martin.  Write to amoore@minlib.net for the Zoom link.  Friday, May 14.
• Check Out Our New Video Projector. It’s movie night in the backyard!  This compact projector connects to your laptop, tablet, phone, PC, or DVD player and is easy to operate, with a bright, crisp image 30”-200” inches away.  It also works with USB flash drive, PS4/XBOX/WII, media players (music, pictures, video, TXT), or headphones.  Combine it with our portable battery and take it on the road.  Just search the catalog for “video projector.”
• Get Crafty with Creativebug. Our newest database offers more than a thousand video classes in drawing, painting, sketchbooking, sewing, quilting, knitting, jewelry making, and much more, taught by top artists, designers, and crafters.  Just go to our Online Resources page and log in with your library card (Wayland patrons only).  A world of creativity awaits you.

FOR BABIES, TODDLERS AND PRESCHOOLERS

• Singalong on Zoom with Jeannie Mack: Stories, Songs, and Sign. Jeannie Mack will perform all kinds of fun, bounce-around, sing-along songs geared for young children. • Storytime on Zoom. Join Ms. Pam for stories, songs, puppets, and crafts through zoom.  This interactive storytime encourages language development, socialization and fun. For ages 2.5 to 5 years. • Kids Yoga on FaceBook Live! Sonia Gomez from Serfi Yoga will give a yoga class for children, toddlers to age 5. Her class will stream on the Wayland Facebook page on Thursday, May 13, at 1:30 p.m
• Weekly Facebook Live Storytimes with Ms. Carly. Join Ms. Carly for a Facebook Live storytime on the Wayland Public Library’s Facebook page. Babies through preschool age are invited to listen to stories, sing songs, and perform fun rhymes and movements. Tuesdays, May 4, 11, 18 and 25 at 10:30 a.m.
• Outside Storytimes! Join Ms. Pam for stories, songs, puppets, and activities OUTSIDE on the lawn behind the library. Face masks are required for all participants during this program. We will assist in maintaining social distancing but encourage attendees to bring along a picnic blanket or a lawn chair. Registration is required. For ages 4 and up with an adult. • Mama Love:  Story/craft with Ms. Elise on Zoom. Ms. Elise will read picture books about mothers and will also lead children in a craft that could be a perfect gift for Mom.  Please register HERE or online from our Eventkeeper calendar for the zoom link and to schedule a time to pick up your craft kit. • Social Justice Storytime on ZOOM. Join Ms. Carly for a storytime that centers on social justice issues! This family friendly storytime will feature books, songs, and flannel boards that offer children and caregivers tools for meaningfully engaging with topics like anti-racism, LGBTQ+ rights, and the Black Lives Matter movement. • Pop-Up Parking Lot Library. Stop by the library on Wednesday afternoons between 1-4 p.m. for in-person browsing of popular and new materials, plus fresh air! Maintain 6 feet if there is a line. Wear a mask & hand sanitizer will be provided prior to browsing. Remember to bring your library card! Weather permitting.
