Joe Porrell (WHS ’64), long-time teacher and coach, dies in Kentucky of COVID-19

The death of Joe Porrell, WHS ’64, was reported on Facebook. He taught and coached at Wayland High School for 45 years, retiring in 2013.  He was inducted into the Massachusetts Basketball Coach Association’s Hall of Fame in 2008, and was inducted to the Wayland High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010.  He was featured in this WSPN article toward the end of his career.

  1. I was his at his side and held him when he took his last breath.He was not my real real father but I loved him as much.If their ever was a true Wayland warrior it was him Joe Porrell.Ill never get over it.My life will never be the same without the Coach
