ADULT SERVICES

  • Racial Equity Study Group. Join us for a peer-directed study group examining issues of racial equity and white privilege.  Modeled on the 21 Day Racial Equity Habit Building Challenge developed by Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr., we’ll explore 3-4 resources or activities per week for seven weeks. We’ll meet via Zoom, discuss the week’s materials, and share our own lessons and experiences.  Register here or through the Events menu on our home page.  We may reschedule or repeat this group if enough people prefer a different time.  Please let us know via cmichael@minlib.net.  Thursday, September 10 at 3 p.m.
  • Climate Change in Metrowest. The Metrowest area has changed much in the last 400 years: from forest to farm to town and now suburb.  Now, more recently, we are seeing weather extremes like wetter springs and spells of drought, extensive heat, torrential downpours and tornado warnings. How are these and other changes affecting our area wildlife and us?  Find out from Joy Marzolf, a naturalist and educator for over 20 years, the last 13 at Mass Audubon’s Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary in Natick, where she teaches nature programs and specializes in animal behavior.  Register here or through the Events menu on our home page.  Tuesday, September 22 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Virtual Trivia Night. Join in on the fun!  We’ll meet using Zoom and answer using either Google Forms or pen, paper, and the good ol’ honor system.  Play on your own, bring your quaran-teammates, or gather your friends on a virtual team via text chain, gchat, or mental telepathy–whatever works for you!  Ages 12+.  Sign up to receive the Zoom link info via email or contact Courtney Michael at cmichael@minlib.net.  Friday, May 22 at 7 p.m.
  • Internet Café for One. Start with the table outside our door.  Add one of our Chromebooks, checked out to you for an hour.  Throw in our wi-fi signal, and you’re back online, safely socially distanced.  Just give us a call to arrange a time for that same day, and we’ll get you connected under the trees (weather permitting, of course).
  • The Best Deal in Town. From July 20 to August 20, we circulated $94,811 worth of materials (based on an item’s average retail price).  Our materials expenditure was $22,847.  Even without the 20-40% discount we get from vendors, that’s an incredible Return On Investment—without patrons even coming into the building to check things out.  Your tax dollar goes a long way at the library.
