You’re Invited! The Town of Wayland invites the community to a ribbon cutting for a new energy resiliency initiative. Resiliency is critical during severe storms and grid outages for Wayland Middle School, which serves as the Town Emergency Shelter. The building will now receive back-up power from the existing solar arrays. Advanced controls link the solar arrays with the School and its stand-by diesel generator to boost Wayland’s emergency resiliency, extend on-site fossil fuel supplies, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Battery storage can be added in the future to extend the shelter’s resiliency. MAPC helped Wayland secure a grant from the Commonwealth’s Community Clean Energy Resiliency Initiative to fund major project costs .
