ADULT PROGRAMS

  • Holiday Open House. Come sing your favorite holiday songs and learn some new ones with Ben Rudnick & Friends, winner of seven Parent’s Choice awards!  Enjoy some refreshments while they perform in the Rotunda.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Wayland Public Library.  Sunday, December 2;   Concert 3-3:45 p.m.
  • Craft a 3D Snowflake. We’ll be making cardstock paper snowflakes using Elmer’s glue and our dexterity!  Participants will select from three designs and complete one snowflake.  Ages 12 and up on Tuesday, December 4 at 1:30 p.m.
  • The Great Presenters: Having Surgery After 65—What to Know, Consider, and Ask. Dr. Ruben Azocar will cover all aspects of surgery from pre-operative assessments and risk, to prevention of possible complications that might occur.  Dr. Azocar MD, MHCM, FASA, FCCM is Professor and Chair of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. He is the President of the Society for the Advancement of Geriatric Anesthesiology and has clinical and research interest in the care of the older adult presenting for surgery and anesthesia.  Tuesday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m.
  • FYI: Color Printing and Copying. You can do both here at the library, for a mere 25ȼ a page.  You can print from your own file on a flash drive or email, from a web page, or from our scanner.  If you need a little coaching, one of our crack staff will leap to your assistance.  And you’ll never have to change a toner cartridge.

BABY AND PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAMS

  • Weekly Storytimes
    • Mother Goose Time (Infants-2.5 years) Tuesdays, Nov. 20 and Dec. 4, 11, and 18 at 10:30 a.m.
    • StoryVine (2.5 -5 years) Thursdays, Nov. 29 and Dec. 20 and 27 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Inclusive Playgroup: Stories, Songs, and Sign. This interactive, inclusive music and literacy group is for young children at all levels of communication and ability. Facilitated by Beverly Mobilia of Wayland Community Partnerships for Children and Families. For ages newborn to 3 years. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 11:15-12p.m.
  • Music and Movement. Get your wiggles out! Songs, dances, and stretches for walkers to age 5. Wednesday, November 21, 10:30-11:00 a.m.
  • Saturday Stories: All About Families. Join Ms. Carly for stories, songs, and rhymes that celebrate families! For babies to 5 years, with caregiver. Saturday, November 24, 11:00-11:30 a.m.
  • Zumba. Rhythm and dance program led by Hayley Chizinsky of H2K Happy Healthy Kids Fitness Studio. For ages 2.5 to 4 years. Tuesday, November 27, 10:30 a.m.
  • Sing-along with Jeannie Mack. Jeannie Mack will perform all kinds of fun, bounce-around, sing-along songs for young children. Plenty of opportunity for audience participation! For babies, toddlers, and preschoolers with caregiver. Thursday, December 6, 10:30-11:15 a.m.

SCHOOL-AGE PROGRAMS

  • Drop-in Craft: Thanksgiving Decorations. Get crafty and make decorations for the Thanksgiving table! For ages 5 and up. Wednesday, November 21, 3:00-4:30 p.m.
  • Let’s Build: Zip Line Challenge. Let’s Build is a hands-on building workshop for kids in grades 3-5. Each month will feature a different building challenge. This month’s Let’s Build Challenge is to build a zip line that can carry a ping pong ball down. Let’s Build workshops are run by Wayland High School Seniors Eileen Chau and Julia Treese. Wednesday, November 28, 3:00-4:30 p.m.
  • Parent/Child Book Group. This book discussion group is for 4th and 5th graders with a parent. November’s book is The Jumbies by Tracey Baptiste. We will also choose the book for next month. Wednesday, November 28, 7:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Drop-in Family Game Day. Spend quality time with your kids and play games at the library! We will have board games and card games set up to play. For ages 4 and up, with caregiver. Thursday, November 29, 3:00-4:30 p.m.
  • Lego Club. Children will make fabulous creations out of Legos. This month’s theme is Build a lego town! For ages 5 and up. Wednesday, December 5, 3:00-4:00p.m.

FOR FAMILIES: Ben Rudnick & Friends Holiday Concert.  As a part of the Wayland Center Open House, Ben Rudnick & Friends will perform a Holiday Concert. Come and sing your favorite holiday songs and learn some new ones! The performance will be in the Rotunda. Refreshments will be served. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Wayland Public Library. For all ages. Sunday December 2, 3:00-3:45 p.m.
