Celebrate our Rivers at the 16th Annual RiverFest, June 17 and 18

riverfest 2017Don’t miss this year’s annual RiverFest celebration, June 17 and 18—a rare opportunity to enjoy a weekend full of free, family-friendly activities, from Lowell to Framingham! Riverfest is the annual celebration of the Sudbury, Assabet and Concord Wild and Scenic Rivers, and includes over 40 events in nine communities. With free walks, talks, hikes, paddles, concerts, and art, there is something for everyone.  In Wayland, Brandeis Professor of History Brian Donahue will again lead us on the History Paddle from Route 20 to Sherman’s Bridge, with frequent stops to discuss the fascinating history of the river that motivated the founding of Wayland. At 9am on Saturday morning, bring your canoe or kayak to the boat ramp at Rt. 20; cars will be available at Sherman’s Bridge to ferry you back. No boat? Email: Tsciacca@comcast.net to borrow a boat, or if you have a canoe and want a bow paddler, or have a boat to lend.

In the Metrowest, many more events will be hosted on and along the rivers highlighting all the things that make these rivers so special. From boat rides to bird watching to historical reenactments and face-painting, there is something for everyone, whether young or old, adventuresome or more interested in a scenic stroll along the river banks.
