The Conservation Commission granted the Permit to for the rail trail. Eversource and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) can now move forward on the 4.5 mile paved trail from the Wayland Library through Weston to just about the Waltham town line. Eversource and DCR will seek bids and expect to award a contract by July. They will start construction in late August. Eversource will have the tracks and ties removed and put down the trail base.  DCR will top the base with 10-foot wide pavement, 2-foot wide shoulders and fencing where the slope warrants.
