Water Ban Update

WATER BAN UPDATE from the Board of Public Works

EFFECTIVE May 1, 2017

UNDERGROUND LAWN SPRINKLER USE shall be permitted on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 7:00pm and 7:00am

The mandatory water restrictions are printed below:

Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection is in the process of renewing Wayland’s Water Management Act Permit. The upcoming Water Management Act Permit will mandate non-essential water use restrictions.  As our region of the State is still in a Drought Advisory condition, the Board of Public Works is now permitting watering on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm-7am until further notice.

  1. Underground sprinklers & above ground sprinklers attached to hoses: Outdoor watering by water users is restricted to Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 7:00pm and 7:00am.  Daytime watering is prohibited.
  2. Handheld Hose: Handheld hose watering is not restricted and is allowed at all times and on all days.

Additional restrictions may be enacted if the above restriction is not adequate to reduce water consumption or if the Drought Conditions become elevated.  Further information on the Drought Conditions in the state can be found at http://www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/dcr/water-res-protection/water-data-tracking/drought-status.html.
