Helping Domestic Violence Survivors

Wayland Town Crier 2/14/17: Helping Domestic Violence Survivors. For Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan, combatting domestic violence is about much more than prosecuting offenders.

“We really try to be broad and deep in terms of how we do it,” Ryan said after speaking to the Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable on Tuesday.

Ryan highlighted efforts to help people who have been victims of domestic violence and teach cosmetologists and other workers how to recognize signs of domestic violence. Then, she joined roundtable members in assembling Valentine’s Day bags featuring toys, books, toiletries, stuffed animals and other gifts. Children at the Sudbury Extended Day program decorated the bags, which will be given to families living in shelters or transitional homes through REACH Beyond Domestic Violence, The Second Step and Voices Against Violence organizations.
