MetroWest Nonprofit Network to Host Strategic Planning Workshop: Tales from the Trenches

The MetroWest Nonprofit Network (MWNN) will kick off its 25th Anniversary Year with a January 24, 2017, workshop entitled: Strategic Planning: Tales from the Trenches. The workshop will be held at The Verve, Crown Plaza, 360 Worcester Road in Natick, MA. Registration and networking will be from 8:30-9:00 AM. The Panel Presentation and Q&A will take place from 9:00 -11:00 AM. The workshop fee is $40 for each participant. Please register in advance at www.metrowestnonprofit.org. Walk-ins will be accommodated only if the workshop is not full.

Join the MWNN as a panel of experts; an executive director, a board member and a funder share lessons and strategies learned from their own experiences as nonprofit leaders and strategic thinkers. Among the topics covered will be:

  • What is the role of the executive director?
  • What is the role of the board member?
  • What are funders really looking for in your organizations strategic plan?
  • What happens after the consultant leaves?
  • How do you keep your plan alive and off the shelf?

Panelists include Susan Nicholl, Executive Director of the MetroWest Visitors Bureau; Steve Levinsky, Stragegic Advisor, Board Chair, Community Activist, and Artist; and Martin Cohen, President and CEO of the MetroWest Health Foundation. The moderator will be Ann Budner, Carlisle and Company, A Budner Strategy Consulting.

MWNN will also host a free Toolbox Tuesday entitled “Off the Shelf: Bringing Your Plan to the Table.” on January 31, 2017, as a follow-up to the Strategic Planning Workshop. This session will be held at the MetroWest Health Foundation. 161 Worcester Road, Suite 202, in Framingham. Neworking will be from 8:30-8:45 AM followed by the discussion.

Bring your strategic plan to the toolbox and walk away with some specific ways to make sure it stays off the shelf. Come learn some tools and tips from an expert while sharing and networking with others in the field.

This session will be led by Ann Budner. Ann has headed up the Non-Profit Practice at Carlisle & Company, a management consulting firm in Concord, since 1999.  Ann’s specialties include strategic planning, board development, and outcomes measurement.
