HOLIDAY HOURS. The library will be closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving and Friday as well. We will re-open on Saturday, November 27 at 10 a.m.

    • Mother Goose Time (Infants-2.5 years) most Tuesday mornings, 10:30-11 a.m.
    • StoryVine (2.5 -5 years) most Thursday mornings from 10:30-11 a.m.
  • Storytime with Dog! Thursday, November 17, 10:30-11a.m. for ages 3 and up. Children will listen to dog stories and have a special canine visitor as Corbyn, a beautiful Samoyed, and her owner Helen will join us.
  • Zumba Kids Jr. Tuesday, November 29, 10:30-11 a.m. for children ages 2.5 to 4 years old
  • Singalong with Jeannie Mack, Thursday, December 1, 10:30-11:15 a.m.

stephanie-mayGREAT PRESENTERS: Rev. Stephanie May, Th.D.: “The Gendered Politics of Home, Homeland, and Religion”, Tuesday, December 6, 7:30 p.m.
From the role of homespun fabric in the Revolution to the creation of Homeland Security post-9/11, ideas of home have conveyed who belongs and who is in charge. Drawing on her research as well as current events, Rev. May invites us to see the politics in the language of home. The Rev. Dr. Stephanie May received her doctorate in Religion, Gender, and Culture from Harvard Divinity School in 2012. Since graduation, she taught as an adjunct professor at Brandeis University and Boston College before becoming the minister at First Parish in Wayland in 2014. Stephanie lives nearby in Lincoln with her family.

blenderADVANCED 3D DESIGN WITH BLENDER II, Thursday, December 15, 7-8:30 p.m.
Eric Carlsen and members of the Wayland High School FRC Robotics Team return to guide people who are already familiar with Blender through adding detail to models. Registration is required for this workshop and you must be familiar with Blender or have completed one of our earlier Blender Workshops. You must be 12 or older to register on your own, but we encourage parents to register and work with their children.

CONVERT YOUR LPs INTO CDs, Monday, December 5, 7 p.m.
There’s so much great music on them, but when’s the last time you listened to your records? Reference Librarian Andy Moore will show you how to use the software program Audacity to convert your LPs to digital files. Burn them onto a disc, upload them onto a portable device, or post them online–you’ll give that old collection new life!

INTRODUCTION TO THE IPHONE/IPAD, Thursday, December 8, 2 p.m.
Do you have some experience with your iPhone/iPad but feel like you might be missing out on some of the basics? Come on in. M.J. will discuss organizing icons, SIRI and the microphone, battery life, and other basics of these versatile and complex devices. Be sure to bring your iPhone or iPad with you.

parable of the sowerDECEMBER BOOK DISCUSSIONS FOR ADULTS
The library runs several adult book groups, and new members are always welcome. For more information about any of the groups, call the library at 508-358-2311.

ENGLISH CONVERSATION GROUP. Do you know someone who is learning basic English? The library’s English conversation group meets two Fridays each month from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The next sessions will be on November 18, December 2, and December 16.

NEEDLEWORK/HANDWORK GROUP. Our needlework group will meet the following dates: December 7, January 4, February 1, March 1, April 5, and May 3. All are welcome

EXHIBITS. In November the library foyer displays oil painting by artist Rob Franco. The Raytheon Room features photographs by the Sudbury Valley Nature Photography group.

WAYLAND CENTER HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE. The annual Holiday Open House is scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday, December 4. Wayland musician Fran Friedman will be at the library to lead a family sing-along of favorite winter holiday songs from 3 to 4 p.m. Wayland’s new Library Director, Dana Mastroianni will be participating in the Open House and invites people to come and meet her.
