Wayland Weston Crew Team rows way to new equipment

Wayland Town Crier 9/17/16: Wayland Weston Crew Team rows way to new equipment. Rowing at the high school level isn’t cheap and it isn’t easy. Boats (called shells in the crew world) cost between $8,000 and $45,000 each, and, in order to stay competitive, the Wayland Weston Crew team aims for a fleet of shells no older than five years, at least for the varsity team. To help cover some of the costs, the team held an ergathon at Wayland Town Beach on Saturday morning, in which it raised $30,000.
