The Wayland Control Freaks Excel at the 2016 FRC Robotics Competition

We all appreciate stories about an underdog who triumphs against all odds. This past weekend, eleven students from Wayland High School and the Natick home schooling community, known as the Control Freaks, competed in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) District Tournament at Boston University and proved, once again, that underdogs can triumph.

The 2016 season started with the first district event held at UMASS Dartmouth where Control Freaks encountered various technical challenges and robot break-downs. Even so, everyone on the team gave it their all and fought to the end. This past weekend, the Control Freaks embraced another round of competitions with 39 other teams at BU. There they successfully advanced to the playoffs, won the quarter finals and competed in a memorable, semi final, tie breaker match. We are proud!!
