Foundation for MetroWest celebrates youth and philanthropy

Carrie MorgridgeAuthor and nationally renowned philanthropist, Carrie Morgridge will be speaking at the Wellesley Country Club on Thursday, April 28, 2016 a keynote speaker for the Foundation for MetroWest’s third annual Spring Inspiration Breakfast—a celebration of youth and philanthropy. Carrie is the Chief Disruptor of the Morgridge Family Foundation and founder of the Student Support Foundation—creating youth philanthropy clubs that teach students that small gifts, given properly, do matter. Carrie will share the inspiring story of her family’s tradition of philanthropy and the unique vision and success behind her organization.

For nearly 20 years, the Foundation has worked closely with local youth, educating them about the importance of giving back to their community through its Youth in Philanthropy program. Currently, the Foundation offers twelve programs throughout the MetroWest region. Since inception, over 1,000 students have participated awarding $1 million to local nonprofits youth-serving– making its Youth in Philanthropy program one of the largest in the country.

“Millennials are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to philanthropy and giving back. It’s just who they are,” said Patty Sins, Event Committee Co-Chair and Youth in Philanthropy parent. “Through the Foundation’s Youth in Philanthropy program, the organization captures the existing passion of these students, develops their leadership skills, and ultimately teaches them what it takes to be an effective philanthropist—amplifying the impact of their participation. It’s extraordinary.”
