Celebrate the Last Night of Winter at the Wayland Spring A Cappella Concert

The cold may seem endless, but believe it or not, spring is coming. What better way to usher it in than by celebrating with song at the Wayland Spring College A Cappella concert at WHS on Saturday, March 19 at 7:30 — the night before spring officially begins.

Each year, the College A Cappella concerts are a musical highlight of Wayland life. This spring, we welcome three outstanding a cappella groups to the town: the Northeastern University Nor’easters, the Rochester Institute of Technology Brick City Singers, and the Brown University Brown’sTones. Wayland High School’s own talented a cappella groups – the Muses, T-Tones and Madrigals – will join the collegiate groups on stage to provide a fun, memorable, and musical evening for song lovers of all ages.

A cappella music features fresh arrangements of both classic and contemporary songs performed by unaccompanied singers, though vocalists sometimes emulate instruments. Having experienced a huge surge in popularity in recent years, a cappella attracts the most talented singers on college campuses nationwide. The three groups coming to Wayland are among the best of the best and are not to be missed.

The concert will be held at the Wayland High School Theater, located at 264 Old Connecticut Path. Seats are general admission and doors open at 7 p.m. The concert will have one intermission with complimentary refreshments served.

As winter winds down, don’t forget to lock in your spot by purchasing tickets in advance. Priced at $18, tickets are available at Donelan’s, Russell’s Garden Center, and online at the WHS CAPA website, www.whsarts.org. You can also find pictures, videos, and additional information on the concert’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/collegeacappella/.

The a cappella concerts and art sales are major fundraisers for the Creative Arts Parents Association (CAPA), the organization that supports all Wayland High School arts, music and theater programs. For more information, to join the mailing list, or to make a donation, visit www.whsarts.org.
