Moodz Spa in Wayland supports Room to Read

room to readWayland Town Crier 11/19/15: Moodz Spa in Wayland supports Room to Read. Moodz Salon has hosted an ongoing used book sale in its tranquil upstairs waiting area and has embraced the sale of stretch hair ties, handmade by Wayland Middle School students. These initiatives have raised more than $350 over this past year, which will fund a year of a girl’s education through the award-winning nonprofit Room to Read.

Moodz has dedicated several shelves to gently used books, charging just $1 per book via an honor system collection box. As the idea has caught on, clients and staff have helped to replenish the inventory of bestsellers and books in every genre. Hair ties being sold at Moodz are made by Wayland Middle School students, under the direction of Ellen Jacobs, literacy specialist. The hair tie project and student book sales have raised more than $3,800 for Room to Read since the school’s efforts began in 2013.
