Creative Arts Parent Association announces fall grants and seeks donations

capaThe Creative Arts Parent Association (CAPA), a registered nonprofit organization and the only volunteer parents’ group committed solely to supporting and promoting the visual and performing arts at Wayland High School, recently announced its fall grant awards:

  1. Visual arts – Supplies for metalworks and mat board (so students can learn how to mat their own artwork).
  2. Music programs – Bose Bluetooth speaker for mobile music playing and listening; music notation software for new music lab; and software updates for Smart Music.
  3. Theater program – Supplies to store food for student performers.

Every year CAPA also supports these programs for the fine arts program:

  1. 1. Master classes
  2. Scholarships for music and art festivals (Senior Districts, Art and Music All-State)
  3. Fine Arts varsity-style jackets
  4. Fine Arts Night

Your tax-deductible donation supports Wayland High School fine arts programming.

In lieu of a letter mailing this year, CAPA is going green and asking you to consider supporting CAPA with an online donation. Any amount is appreciated, but we are offering those who donate $100 or more by Dec. 31 a complimentary pair of tickets to our Spring College A Cappella concert (a $36 value). Please make your convenient, secure online donation at whsarts.com/donate.

With its funding guidelines, CAPA strives to support the fine arts students and program at Wayland High School by funding “extras” and “nice to have” items requested by the fine arts teachers that would otherwise not be possible.

With the level-funded budgets in the past years eroding the fine arts budget for some supplies, CAPA recognizes it is important to fund some consumables that the teachers need for classes, but are no longer covered by the school budget.

CAPA sends a sincere “thank you” to everyone who contributes to our efforts to keep the arts alive and well at Wayland High School (by attending our a cappella concerts, bringing your recyclables to our bottle and can drives, and sending in donations) as well as to our many hardworking volunteers. We would also like to thank the fine arts teachers for their passion and dedication to our students.
