Parenting on the Same Page: A Practical Approach to Raising Healthy Children

John BadalamentParenting on the Same Page: A Practical Approach to Raising Healthy Children, November 5 at 7pm at Sandy Burr Country Club

Join the WCPA and The Community Partnerships for Children and Families for an exciting program led by fatherhood expert, John Badalament, Ed.M. Whether it’s about how to discipline effectively, or which sports and activities to participate in, parents often find themselves on different pages when it comes to parenting styles and choices. While perspectives and beliefs may differ, it’s critical for children’s’ well-being that parents in any family structure both model healthy communication and keep parental conflict to a minimum. Based on the belief that a relationship isn’t something you have, it’s something you do, this interactive workshop gives parents ready-to-use skills and activities for getting on the same page with each other and building healthy relationships with their children. Specifically, participants will learn about: Creating A Parenting Vision Statement; Understanding the Power of Family Legacies; Finding Family Balance Through Ritual; Connecting Emotionally: Knowing and Being Known; Conflict and the Art of Repair; and Expressing Gratitude. John Badalament, Ed.M., is the Program Director at The Fatherhood Project at Massachusetts General Hospital. John’s work has been featured on ABC News, NPR, in Men’s Health, Pregnancy, The Los Angeles Times, and on Huffpost.com. This event is sponsored by Nikki McCay, Realtor. *Doors will open at 7pm for a social half hour featuring a cash bar and light refreshments. Program will begin at 7:30pm.*
