The Wayland Cultural Council invites organizations, schools, and individuals to apply for grants that support arts and cultural activities in the community. These grants can support a variety of artistic projects and initiatives — including exhibits, festivals, short-term artist residencies, performances, workshops, and lectures.

This year, the Wayland Cultural Council will distribute about $4500 in grants to support projects in Wayland and surrounding towns. Previously funded projects include: Wayland Concert Series, Wayland Reads discussion of Marina Keegan’s book, “The Opposite of Loneliness,” League of Women Voters Civics Bee, MetroWest Symphony Orchestra, Umbrella Community Arts Center, Heritage Chorale, Opera Del West, an Adult Drawing and Design Workshop, and much more. Grant amounts range from about $200 – $600.

For application forms, specific guidelines, and complete information on the grants available through the Wayland Cultural Council, go to: http://www.mass-culture.org/Wayland. Application forms are also available at Wayland Public Library.

The Wayland Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils (LCCs) serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.
