First Robotics Competition Team seeks funding to attend Global Championship

control freaksThey did it! The Control Freaks have made it to the FRC Global Competition! When Wayland’s FRC (First Robotics Competition) team, the Control Freaks, began their inaugural season, their goal was just to build a robot that worked.  They met regularly in the living room of one of their members, and relied on donut sales, a music concert, and a few sponsors to raise enough money for the registration fees for two qualification matches. They amazed themselves and everyone around them by qualifying for the NE District Regional Championships that was held at WPI 4/9-4/11. At WPI they received the Rookie All-Star Award and have now earned an invitation to the Global Championships in St. Louis 4/22-4/25. The team includes: Geoffrey Wang, Alex Zhu, Hunter Leonard, Marissa Liu, Nolan Keegan, and Travis Burke. The registration fee for the Global competition is $5,000. The team has started a Crowd Rise Campaign to help offset the costs to attend. Any amount you can donate would be greatly appreciated.
