Three affordable units required at Wayland development

Wayland Town Crier 3/16/15: Three affordable units required at Wayland development. After a lengthy debate, the Planning Board voted 4-0-1 last week to require that developer Trask Inc. build three affordable residences as part of the Covered Bridge Conservation Cluster Development on Rice Road. At issue was the question of whether the project, with 12 market-rate homes (some of which are now on sale at prices ranging from $1.4 to $1.8 million), requires the construction of only two affordable rate units, according to one interpretation of the town bylaw, or whether the town’s inclusionary zoning bylaw necessitates three.
