Thank you!! Parmenter raised over $337,000 in their Annual Appeal. We are so thankful to all our generous donors. Our annual appeal will provide financial support to many Parmenter programs and services – Home Care, Hospice, Camp Erin and HEARTplay (our children’s bereavement programs), and the Food Pantry. Cindy Mayher, Parmenter Foundation Executive Director said, “we are here for our communities and we are so appreciate to receive their financial support in return – it is a real partnership. The Annual Appeal shows the broad value the community places in Parmenter’s work. People were very generous and thoughtful with their donations, designating particular areas they were interested in supporting.” There was a 24% increase in number of donors over last year and a 34%increase in donations! Big and small, folks offer time and money. Over $125,000 was donated to Home Care, nearly $50,000 to Hospice Memorial, $116,000 to Hospice Care, $16,000 to our Children’s Bereavement Programs and nearly $30,000 to the Food Pantry.

In addition to financial support, Parmenter also receives incredible volunteer support. Over 30 Hospice Volunteers work with clients and families. Volunteers are indispensable for the Food Pantry Program. Administrative and fundraising volunteers provide critical support and over 100 volunteers help each summer at Camp Erin. We recently received a special kind of support from one local resident, Rob Purser, who created our wonderful Annual Appeal digital thermometer. When Parmenter searched for a digital fundraising thermometer, there wasn’t much available. Rob, a technical wizard by heart, offered to create one. He went to his drawing board and designed a way to use special LED lights and an Arduino computer with a direct connection to Parmenter’s website where a digital thermometer was updated regularly, to create an eye catching display. “It was exciting to create something that was both interesting to build and served the community” said Rob Purser. One thermometer was placed at the agency office on Cochituate Road in Wayland on one at The Parmenter Foundation on Boston Post Road in Sudbury. We’ve had many folks who have commented on seeing the thermometers and enjoyed watching the number of lights increase as donations came in. Thank you to everyone who supports Parmenter’s work in our communities and its 60 years of legacy of caring.
