Five Miles Astride the River: The Story of Wayland will premiere at Wayland High School, November 21

Premiere of documentary about Wayland’s history, “Five Miles Astride the River: The Story of Wayland” at Wayland High School, 264 Old Connecticut Path, Wayland, on November 21st, 7:30 P.M. At an event, co-hosted by the Walden Forum and Wayland Historical Society, Kevin Delaney (2014 Massachusetts History Teacher of the Year) will feature examples of student work as he shares his insights about how, in close collaboration with the Wayland Historical Society, local history can serve as a window to view larger themes of the American experience. The highlight of the evening will be the premiere of the film “Fiver Miles Astride The River: The Story of Wayland” (produced by Wayland High School graduates, Zander Cowen and Jacob Sussman) which celebrates the 375th anniversary of the town’s founding. The 20-minute documentary explores Wayland’s history through 3 eras of the town’s development: colonial, industrial, and post-World War II. Through archival photographs and interviews with local historians, the film presents a compelling account of the town’s past and explores how broader historical trends are manifested in local history. You can learn more about the event and view a trailer of the film at pelhamislandpictures.com/wayland. Admission is free and open to the public.
