Wayland Cultural Council Calls for Grant Applications

mcc logoThe Wayland Cultural Council invites you to apply for the Massachusetts Cultural Council FY15 Grant Cycle. The WCC board is excited about this next grant cycle and will begin reviewing applications after the October 15th deadline. We are looking for new and creative events to fund for this next year.

WCC has been allotted funds through the Massachusetts Cultural Council, for redistribution through the Local Cultural Council program. Last year we awarded $4,000 in grants to 14 individuals or organizations, supporting exceptional programming in Wayland and in neighboring towns.

We support a variety of programs in the arts and sciences throughout the year, that are so important to our community, from storytelling, lectures and concerts to science shows for the kids. WCC co-sponsors events organized by the Council on Aging, Wayland Library, Historical Society and many other community and school programs in the arts and sciences.

Over the past two granting cycles, WCC funded three events for the Wayland 375 Anniversary; the 375 Birthday Concert, the Three Eras of Wayland History and the Mass Memories Road Show.

Some of the other events that we granted to last year were: the Walden Forum Community Messiah performance in December at the High School, the Trio Cleonice Concert in January, the presentation of “A Search for Justice” at the COA in February, and then in March the concert of period music and instruments, “Music of the American Moravians”, performed at the First Parish Church. The COA Summer Outdoor Concert Series Kick-off was a huge success.  Events sponsored in neighboring towns were, the summer’s Free Friday Night Fun at the Acton Discovery Museums, the Metrowest Symphony Orchestra Concert “Artists in Bloom”, held at Keefe Tech in Framingham in March, which featured amazing young performers from the region, and the Young Masters Series held at the Center for Arts in Natick.

Don’t miss our fall deadline of October 15th! We are in the fortunate position to consider even more and varied applications to enrich our community.

Please send applications to WCC mailbox at the Wayland Town Building.
