SIM USA, the Christian organization that he works for, was desperately short of medical staff at the hospital it runs. So Dr. Sacra, who has spent most of the past two decades working in Liberia, volunteered. He left the U.S. in the beginning of August to help at the hospital, treating non-Ebola patients, including women giving birth.
