Police make arrest in motor vehicle break-ins case

waylandpoliceSince the beginning of August, the Wayland Police Department had received complaints of 49 motor vehicle burglaries from residents.  These burglaries occurred in the early morning hours on various nights, in multiple neighborhoods.  In all cases, unlocked vehicles were targeted, and cash, change, wallets, purses, credit cards and sunglasses were stolen.

During this time frame, Wayland Police Detectives investigated the cases and developed images of a suspect that were obtained from residential security cameras. A detailed crime map showing the locations and dates of the thefts was prepared and extra patrols were initiated

On August 22, Sergeant Charles Akins, was in the area of Old Connecticut Path at Sycamore Road, when he observed a suspicious vehicle at approximately 0241 hrs.  Sergeant Akins stopped the vehicle and identified, YELISEYEV, Konstantin of 36 Woodland Road, Wayland, Massachusetts, as the operator.  Yeliseyev matched the description of the suspect in the vehicle burglaries and stolen property was observed within the vehicle. He was placed under arrest for receiving stolen property.

Yeliseyev was interviewed and admitted to 23 counts of motor vehicle break & entering, 7 counts of Larceny under $250, 7 counts of Attempted Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, 5 counts of Attempted Larceny over $250, 5 counts of Receiving Stolen Property, 4 counts of Possession of Class “E” Drug, 3 counts of Larceny over $250 and a Possession of Class “A” Drug.

He was booked in the usual manner and transported to the Framingham District Court for arraignment.  This case is still under investigation.

The Wayland Police Department reminds all residents, visitors and travelers to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables when they are not in their vehicles.

Officers involved in this investigation were: Sergeant Charles Akins, Detective Sergeant Jamie D. Berger, Detective Seanna Lombardo, Officer Sean Fitzgerald, Officer Jarrod Kullich and Officer Timothy Henderson.
