Districts split on standardized tests

Wayland Town Crier 7/10/14: Wayland and Weston to administer PARCC exams. The Weston and Wayland school committees recently voted to join other towns planning to administer the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) exam to third- to eighth-graders next spring, instead of the 17-year-old Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) exam.

Wayland Town Crier 7/8/14: Districts split on standardized tests. In the hopes of gparccetting on board early with what could become the state’s next standardized test, a dozen school districts in MetroWest and the Milford area last month signed up to administer the PARCC exam next year. Those 12 districts, along with 164 other school districts in the state that applied before the state’s early enrollment deadline of June 30, are guaranteed to be able to offer the new test next spring in place of the MCAS. Most will be giving the test in third through eighth grade; a few will have their ninth- or eleventh-graders take it. PARCC vs. MCAS lists districts that have decided so far. Wayland has opted for PARCC for grades 3-8.
