On Saturday, June 14, beginning at 9:30AM, Wayland’s year-long 375th birthday celebration will culminate in a festive celebration Parade! Waylanders of all ages are invited and encouraged to participate. Here’s how:

March or Ride in the Parade – Join the many civic, business, school and othergroups who have already signed up to participate. Create a float, decorate your car or wagon, or march along with banners and signs. Are you in a book group? Musical group? Investment group? Dance group? Mom’s or Dad’s group? Dog walking group? Neighborhood group? Join other groups already signed up like the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, public safety agencies, local businesses, families — and celebrate the diversity that makes up the unique fabric of Wayland’s community. To sign up, go to www.waylandparade.org.

Create a Crazy Hat – Then wear it to watch the Parade or march in the Parade! Arts Wayland is sponsoring a Crazy Hat Making Workshop at Loker School on Wednesday, June 11 at 3:00 PM. Learn more at artswayland.com and sign up at waylandparade.org. Send questions to Parade Organizer Brad Keyes at brad@waylandparade.org. Kids, parents, and everyone in between are invited to participate!

Decorate a Bike – Then ride it in the Parade! Middlesex Savings Bank is sponsoring a Bike Decorating Event from 8:00AM to 9:30 AM on June 14th, the day of the Parade. Decorating materials will be provided. Bring your bike to Cochituate Ball Field, the starting point of the Parade, decorate it and you’re ready to ride along on any or all of the Parade route!

Come watch the Parade – Even if you’re not driving, marching, biking or wearing a crazy hat, you’re encouraged to join in the festivities by watching and cheering on the Parade. So pull up your beach chairs anywhere along the Parade route and clap, cheer, celebrate and add to the spirit of the day!

The 3-mile Parade route begins at Cochituate Ball Field and ends at the Wayland Town Building. There will be refreshments, fun, games and entertainment for people of all age groups at the end of the Parade route. Brad Keyes, Parade Organizer, can be reached at brad@waylandparade.org.
