The McCarthy era in 1950s Wayland, Thursday, May 29 at WHS

White-Wayland-375-LogoIf you think the McCarthy era didn’t touch Wayland, you would be wrong. Anne Hale was a teacher in the Wayland Public Schools in the 1950s who found herself in trouble because of possible connections to the Communist Party. Richard Weingartner’s high school drama class has been working hard on a short piece about the Anne Hale story. This cool and not quite conventional show will involve a bit of audience interaction (think playing the role of the school committee ruling on her dismissal). It is a super busy month at the high school so the only time available for a performance is Thursday, May 29th at 12:15pm. This special performance and discussion will take place in the Lecture Room at the high school and will last about one hour. Please join us to learn more about this small piece of Wayland history.
