What could housing at River’s Edge be like? Economic Development Committee’s second house tour is March 20

Thank you to all for the turnout for our first tour Feb 27, many townspeople were able to tour Shillman House and the upcoming Coolidge at Sudbury. We’d now like to welcome you on a second tour, we’ve coordinated to visit the new Concord Mews project in Concord, MA on March 20, next Thursday. See the attached information sheet for details.

Concord Mews (350 units) is twice the size of River’s Edge, for-profit (whereas Shillman and Coolidge were built by non-profits), 25% affordable, and 2-3 stories (River’s Edge as proposed for 2014 is now primarily 2-3 story, with only the back quadrant behind Septage Facility hill designated as 4-story). Concord Mews has no age restriction, so it is regular housing, not geared toward seniors. The project opened in 2013. If you would like to tour the Mews but aren’t available next Thursday, please let us know, and with sufficient demand, we can schedule an evening or weekend visit to return with a second group.

To join the tour, please meet at Wayland Town Building, at Sarkis’ office at 10am, and we’ll travel to the Mews for a tour starting at about 10:20am, then return back to Town Building by noon. (Bus transportation is available, just email Sarkis at ssarkisian@wayland.ma.us to RSVP so we have a head count for who’s riding the bus.  Any questions, please email.  Tour Flyer is online here

  1. I am familiar with Shillman. It is very nice. But at the end of the day, this is still a siting issue….. no matter what it might be like, it is still more appropriately named… Mt Trashmore’s Edge…… This will never be a “win, win”.
