League of Women Voters’ Candidates Night, Tuesday, March 18

lwvThe League of Women Voters of Wayland will hold its 64th Annual Candidates Night on Tuesday, March 18th in the Large Hearing Room in the Town Building. Everyone is invited to listen to and question the candidates running for election on Tuesday, April 1st. Both contested and uncontested candidates will have an opportunity to speak. There are contests for the School Committee and the Board of Selectmen. Three candidates are running for two positions on the School Committee: Barbara Fletcher, who is seeking re-election, Jeanne Downs, and Alexia Obar and six people are running for three seats on the Board of Selectmen. Candidates for two three-year terms are Joe Nolan, who is seeking re-election, Bonnie Gossels, Cherry Karlson, and Argiro Shapiro; candidates for the one-year unexpired term are Mary Antes and Linda Segal. The top two vote-getters for School Committee and the top two-vote-getters for the three-year Selectmen terms will win the seats. In addition to the nine people running for the two contested boards, there are 15 candidates running for uncontested positions. While not all are expected to attend, all candidates will have an opportunity to say a few words about themselves and the issues their boards are facing. Audience members are invited to submit questions for the candidates. Refreshments will be served at 7:15 and the forum will begin promptly at 7:30 and will end at 9:30.
