Wayland Patch 10/3/13: Wayland Selectmen Fire Former Town Administrator … Again. In a 3-2 vote on Wednesday night, the Wayland Board of Selectmen fired, again, former town administrator Fred Turkington, according to Selectmen Joe Nolan. The move was meant to tamp down concerns that selectmen fired Turkington under a vague agenda item on Aug. 26. The Monday firing was done under a new and much clearer agenda item specifically stating that Turkington would be terminated without cause.

The Board of Selectmen on Tuesday night affirmed the decision to terminate Town Administrator Fred Turkington’s contract “without cause” in a vote that, as expected, was split 3-2 in favor. The re-vote, upon advice of town counsel, was to ensure the termination without cause was properly described in the board’s agenda to avoid any violation of the Open Meeting Law.

Wayland Patch 10/4/13: Boschetto Gives Details on TA Firing. More details have emerged on the reasons behind firing former town administrator Fred Turkington. In a lengthy statement made during the Wednesday, Oct. 2 Board of Selectmen’s meeting, Selectmen Vice Chairman Tony Boschetto specified that he had “concerns” about Turkington’s performance and wanted the town to head in a “new direction” with a greater focus on fiscal management.
