There was an accident this morning shortly after 7am by the Fire Station at W. Plain and 27 possibly involving a bicyclist.

Middle School Principal Betsy Gavron sent this email to alert the school community:

This morning a van ran a red light at the intersection of Route 27 and West Plain and hit a 7th grade middle school girl, who was riding her bike to school. Police and EMTs were on the scene immediately. Youth Officer Shane Bowles reports that the student was alert and appeared to be doing well. The ambulance took the student to the hospital for evaluation as part of their normal protocol. Her mother is with her. Our counselors are checking in with any student who witnessed the accident or has any other concerns related to it. On whole students seem to coping well with the news, and after an extended homeroom we are proceeding with a regular schedule.
