Wayland Patch 8/14/13: Man Injured in Fall from Ladder, Wife Injured Trying to Catch Him. A 52-year-old Wayland man and his wife were injured Wednesday afternoon when the man tumbled at least 20 feet from a ladder and his wife attempted to break his fall. Both individuals were transported to the hospital, the man via Medflight to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, and the woman via ambulance to Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Wayland Fire Chief Vinnie Smith said protocol required the trauma center response due to the distance of the fall. Both individuals were conscious, stable and appeared to have sustained non-life threatening injuries.

A man suffered back and arm injuries after a 20-foot fall from a ladder this afternoon on Carpenter Road, according to scanner reports. The 52-year-old man was complaining of back pain and had either a broken or dislocated right arm after the 1:39 p.m. fall, the report said.
