Summer’s not over yet! Golden Tones chorus celebrates the season with a free lunchtime sing-along concert on Labor Day Saturday, August 31st, at 12:30 p.m. outside the Natick Stop & Shop supermarket (corner of Routes 9 and 27). Bring your appetite and join the fun as the grill sizzles and the chorus serves up favorite songs, many from their recent Silver Jubilee concert.
If you missed the Silver Jubilee at Wayland High School last June, stay tuned! This widely-acclaimed intergenerational concert, featuring WBZ-TV’s Todd Gutner as Master of Ceremonies, and Wayland Middle School’s Select Chorus, under the direction of Stephen Murray, will be broadcast on your local cable access station soon.
Through the generosity of Natick Stop & Shop, proceeds from the August 31st barbecue will benefit the chorus’ continuing musical outreach program, which brings 50 uplifting concerts per year, many to underserved audiences in the community. Along with the 12:30 p.m. show, enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and beverages at reasonable prices from 11:30 am to 4 pm.
If you are retired or semi-retired and love music, join the fun! There are NO AUDITIONS to join, and no attendance requirements to belong. If you enjoy singing, dancing or playing an instrument, the chorus welcomes you – all kinds of performers enhance the chorus’ weekly shows. Come bring joyful entertainment into the community and enjoy the company of like-minded music-lovers from towns all over MetroWest, including Framingham, Hudson, Marlborough, Natick, Sherborn, Waltham, Wayland, Wellesley, Weston, and Westwood.
Open rehearsals begin Tuesday, September 3rd at the Wayland Senior Center (Town Building, corner of Routes 27 and 20) from 10:00 a.m. to noon. On Tuesday, September 10th, come at 9:30 a.m. for a Welcome Coffee Reception featuring home-made goodies, hosted by the chorus and the Wayland Council on Aging.

The National Endowment for the Arts honored Golden Tones chorus with recognition as a “Best Practice” in its study on America’s Creativity and Aging programs.
As its mission states, “The Golden Tones chorus practices and provides enriching entertainment for senior citizen facilities, schools, faith communities and public events. Members are men and women of retirement age who sing and dance to lift spirits, have fun, and promote health and social engagement to benefit our audiences and ourselves.”
