Chief: We’ll Handle Heat Calls on a Case-By-Case Basis

Wayland Patch 7/17/13: Chief: We’ll Handle Heat Calls on a Case-By-Case Basis. Wayland Police Chief Robert Irving said the town doesn’t have immediate plans to open official cooling centers, but will deal with heat-related calls on a case-by-case basis. “What we would ask people to do is, if they’re in a situation where they don’t have air conditioning and they don’t have anywhere to go, that they call the dispatch center and we’ll handle each situation on a case-by-case basis,” Irving said. He added that he wasn’t aware of any heat-related calls having yet come in despite the lengthy string of 90-plus degree days plaguing Wayland and the Boston area overall.
