Wayland Patch 7/16/13: How’s The Water At Wayland Town Beach? Patch stopped by Wayland Town Beach today and ran into Director of Public Health Julia Junghanns on her way to test the water at Lake Cochituate. No, she wasn’t there to dip her toes in (not that kind of testing the water). She was there to collect samples in order to test the bacteria levels at the beach. It’s a weekly occurrence during the summer months, Junghanns said. Just last week, the beach was closed Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday after tests revealed higher than the state maximum levels if E.coli. Subsequent testing returned acceptable levels and the beach was reopened Thursday.
