When the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) created the Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) program in 1990, Wayland was one of the first communities to sign on. According to Katherine Provost, FSS coordinator at the Wayland Housing Authority, the program is a resounding – and heartwarming – success.
