Sudbury Valley Trustees Gowing’s Swamp Walk, Sunday, June 2

GOWING’S SWAMP WALK, Gowing’s Swamp, Concord. Sunday, June 2, 2013, 1:30-3:30pm. Join us for this walk lead by Cherrie Corey, educator, naturalist and photographer. Gowing’s Swamp is an enchanting, level bog complex set within a dramatically glaciated landscape, including a deep kettlehole bog in the southern end. This ancient depression supports such locally rare plants as black spruce, bog rosemary, pitcher plants, bog laurel, and associated lichen and fungi species. Join our spring walk along the verdant shorelines, fields, and ridges that encircle Gowing’s Swamp, enjoy its many beautiful vistas, seasonal flowers and fragrances, learn more about the bog’s ecology, and discover the rich history of this very special Concord landscape.
