Dispatcher Bill Reilly died on March 20th after a short illness. Bill was with the department as a dispatcher form 1980 to 1981 and 1994 to 2013. He also served as a reserve intermittent police officer from 1995 to 2013.

Bill Reilly, a fixture in Wayland’s Public Safety Joint Communications Center for many years, passed away suddenly last week at the age of 53, leaving behind a hole in the department that will be impossible to fill. “What a prolific, colorful individual,” said Wally Nutting, a 30-year veteran of Wayland’s dispatch center and long-time co-worker of Reilly’s. “Billy knew just about everybody. He had the right things to say at the right times. Those things, I’m going to miss.”

REILLY, WILLIAM E. III of Norwood died Suddenly on March 20, 2013 at the age of 53. Beloved husband of Bette L. (Albert) Reilly. Devoted Son of Irene F. (Wightman) Reilly of Norwood and the late William E. Reilly Jr. Stepfather of Ryan Tehan and Beth Tehan both of Norwood. Loving Brother of Kevin Reilly and his wife Linda of Norwood, Tom Reilly of Norwood and Kathie Begley of Norwood. Cherished Uncle of Ryan, Timothy, Kyle, Kelly, Mackenzie and Heather. Billy was a Longtime Member of the Norwood Elks Lodge #1124 and Past State President of the Massachusetts Elks Assoc. Inc. Also he was a member of the Moose Club in Waltham. Funeral from the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood Saturday at 8am followed by a funeral mass at 9am in St. Catherine of Siena Church Norwood. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 3-7pm. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery Norwood. He served as a Reserve Police Officer and Dispatcher for the Town of Wayland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to Massachusetts Elks Scholarship Fund 63 Bay State Road Lynnfield, MA 01940.
