Wayland Town Crier 3/21/13: Historical Society to present ‘Steel Wheels Through Wayland’. The Wayland Historical Society will present “Steel Wheels Through Wayland” at the Grout-Heard House Museum on Sunday, March 24 at 2 p.m. Rick Conard will speak about the railroad when it ran through Wayland and the Cochituate-to-Wayland Center Trolley. Conard has an extensive background in transportation, and is the perfect person to take us on this ride! With his knowledge, illustrations and photos, as well as some items from the Wayland Historical Society collection, you will get an idea of the role of this kind of transportation in Wayland’s historical development. After the presentation (weather permitting), we will tour the engine house and turntable site, returning to the Grout-Heard House Museum for refreshments. Please join us for this informative talk!
